General:

 • How do you get your R-Value?

The form was designed to meet standard building codes. The calculated R-value of 22 is arrived at from the thickness of EPS combined with the concrete. The effective R-value of 32 is achieved due to the fact that the wall creates very low air infiltration is measured by blower door test. How the materials function together is what makes a home energy efficient.

 • What is an Insulated Concrete Form?
Jeannie, Rocky Hill CT

Insulated Concrete Forms, referred to as “ICF’s” are forms for poured concrete walls. The forms stay in place as a permanent part of the wall. The forms are made of expanded polystyrene insulation, formed into interlocking blocks connected with plastic ties. The left-in-place forms not only provide a continuous insulation and sound barrier, but also a backing for drywall on the inside, and any type of siding on the outside.
